Admitted to the Quebec Bar in 1972, he began his career at the firm L’Heureux, Philippon, Garneau, Tourigny before joining Gagné, Letarte in 1984. He practised law there until his appointment as Lieutenant Governor of Quebec on July 21, 2015. During his career, he specialised in business law, corporate law and commercial law. In 2024, he returned to Gagné Letarte as a consultant and trainer.
